D. Michael Mason, MAI, SRA is an independent real estate appraiser since 1980. Mr. Mason is also an appraisal reviewer and has been a part of the Appraisal Institute faculty.

Mr. Mason’s extensive experience is listed below:
• Associated with Mason, Mason & Mason, Real Estate Appraisers from June 1980 to August 1985.
• Affiliated with Rolland R. Stephens, MAI from August 1985 to December 1999
• Owner of D. Michael Mason & Associates from January 2000 to August 2004
• Managing Director of the Los Angeles office of First American Commercial Real Estate Services from August 2004 to August 2008

Mr. Mason specializes on a wide variety of property types in residential, commercial, industrial, special purpose, and review appraisal.
• Residential: Single family residences, condominium units and entire condominium projects, apartments, motels, residential subdivisions.
• Commercial: Neighborhood and community shopping centers, general and medical office buildings, specialty shopping centers, retail stores, department stores, historically significant structures.
• Industrial: Business parks, single-tenant warehouses, loft buildings, multi-tenant warehouses.
• Industrial purpose: Theaters, restaurants, rights-of-way, easements, airports, special studies measuring the effects on value due to proximity to electrical overhead utility lines and airports.
• Review Appraisal: Shopping centers, office buildings for First Republic Thrift and Loan, Mitsui Manufacturers Bank, City National Bank, Preferred Bank, Trust Bank, First Commercial Bank, the City of Santa Clarita and the FDIC.

His appraisal experience was specialized in the following Southern California counties: Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, San Diego, Imperial, Kern, Inyo and Santa Barbara.

Mr. Mason is also qualified as an expert witness in the Superior Courts of Los Angeles County, San Bernardino County, Riverside County, Orange County, Salt Lake County, UT, Maricopa County, AZ, Federal District Court and Federal Bankruptcy Court.

Mr. Mason also had lecturing, teaching and authorship experience.

• Part-time Faculty at the University of Southern California, Finance, Business and Economics Department teaching the undergraduate course in real estate appraisal (FBE-465) and development (FBE 466). 1997 to 2003.
• Developed the course titled Residential Case Studies and Report Writing for the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers - 1988
• Developed the seminar, USPAP Update - 1992
• Developed the seminar, OREA State Laws and Federal Regulations - 1992

Mr. Mason is a graduate from California State University, Los Angeles with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration.
